How do I transfer an existing domain name?
Transferring your domain name from your previous host or registrar to SpringHost is easy and straightforward. The transfer process depends on the registrar with whom you registered your domain name.
Most registrars request that you login to their systems, using the login and password they assigned you, and transfer the domain name yourself. While logged in, you shall see a link that allows you to updates your nameserver records, or DNS. You shall need to update the name servers to our name servers. You have two choices of namservers to use. To find out which name servers to use, check your account information email you received after purchasing your webspace with SpringHost. They will look something like this:
PRIMARY: NS1.SPRINGHOST.NET 70.85.145.2
SECONDARY: NS2.SPRINGHOST.NET 70.85.145.3
If your domain was registered on our website, please send an email to support@springhost.net and inform us of any DNS changes you would like us to make.
Please contact your registrar directly to ask about their domain transfer procedures. Let them know of your desire to point your namserver records to SpringHost's network and give them the namserver records which were included in your account information email.
While waiting for the new nameserver information to propagate around the Internet, we recommend maintaining your site and all your files at your current host to avoid down time for your site. During this time, you can use the IP address that we gave you to mirror your web site on SpringHost's servers until the transfer is complete.
